Dear Open World Learning Community Families,
I’m writing to inform you about a construction project that will begin in the Open World Learning’s lower gymnasium on Monday, Feb. 6.
Asbestos is a naturally occurring construction material that was used in older buildings and homes before the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) declared asbestos as potentially damaging to our health. Asbestos can only be hazardous if it is disturbed without taking the proper precautions. Humboldt students were never at risk while in the gym, nor will they be during the removal process.
Licensed contractors will follow all federal and state regulations during removal and the work area will be sealed off. Additionally, crews will regularly test the air outside of the work area to ensure that work is being done safely.
If you have any questions about this project, please call Jeff Connell with District Safety at 651-744-1800.
