All students have the opportunity to explore the culture, language, history, and traditions of many cultures, with a unique focus on Hmong Studies. Hmong Studies include the Hmong Dual Language Program, Hmong Culture & Language Specialist Class, and the Hmong Studies Classroom Units of Study.
HMONG DUAL LANGUAGE PROGRAM
Jackson Elementary offers the first Hmong Dual Language Program in the Saint Paul Public Schools. Hmong Dual Language is offered at all grade levels, Pre-K through 5. Dual language is an educational model in which students are taught core content in two languages. Each year, as students’ progress to the next grade level, they become increasingly proficient in both Hmong and English. Hmong Dual Language Program is designed for all students, native and non-native Hmong speakers.

All students in grades K through 5, go to a Hmong Language & Culture specialist to gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of Hmong culture and develop language and literacy in the Hmong language.
