Column: Thank You, SPPS

  • “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.”  -- William Arthur Ward

    Dear Friends:

As you read this, my tenure as the Saint Paul Superintendent of Schools is drawing to a close. I am very grateful for the opportunity and privilege of serving SPPS for the past 12 months. I am honored by your support, blessed to work alongside hundreds of caring colleagues, and humbled by the kindness shown to me. I will always consider myself a member of the SPPS family.

I am proud of the progress Saint Paul Public Schools has made this year. This success is a product of thousands of fabulous students, their caring families, you – our dedicated staff members – and the supportive citizens of Saint Paul. Thank you for making SPPS a community school district built on the belief that “many hands make light work.”

The best is yet to come for Saint Paul Public Schools. District 625 is fortunate to have a new visionary superintendent, Dr. Joe Gothard. I know he will work hand-in-hand with the larger community to build on SPPS’s past successes and will lead the district in providing new and exciting learning opportunities. I trust Dr. Gothard and have faith in his judgment and leadership.

Again, my gratitude to each of you for making the past year a joy and a privilege for me. Along with the other proud members of the SPPS family, I look forward to watching the dreams of today become the reality of tomorrow.

    Sincerely,

    Dr. John Thein
